La Storia
Nel seicento il nucleo centrale dell’abitazione era un piccolo convento abitato da una comunità di monaci, dediti ad un tipo di vita semplice e rurale. Ne è dimostrazione la sorgente “Santa Rosalia”, ubicata nella parte più declive del fondo che aveva la funzione di irrigare l’orto e di abbeverare il bestiame. Estintasi la comunità dei monaci, ne prese il possesso un gruppo di militari che la trasformò in una guarnigione, ne è testimonianza la garitta posta all’ingresso. Sul finire dell’800 l’intera proprietà passò nelle mani di una nobile famiglia Nicosiana che la utilizzò sino agli anni sessanta come tenuta di caccia e dimora di villeggiatura estiva. Restaurata minuziosamente dagli odierni proprietari, conserva in ogni sua pietra tutte le peculiarità di residenza agricola, fortificata e nobiliare.
The History
In the seventeenth century the main building was a small convent of monks who dedicated their lives to a simple and rural way of living. The water spring of St. Rosalie, located in the lowest part of the property and built by the monks, was used both to water their livestock and their crops. When the monks abandoned the convent, soldiers moved in and transformed it into a military garrison. At the main entrance you can still see the remains of the ’Garritta’ , a military sentry box. Towards the end of the ‘800’s the whole property was passed onto a noble family of Nicosia which used it as a summer and hunting residence. Today it has been restored scrupulously by the new owners and the country house has been preserved in almost every single detail.
